Homs and Hama are the most funded for renewable energy projects, with more than 3 and a half billion pounds

Homs governorate topped the list of governorates that witnessed an increasing growth in establishing renewable energy projects for agricultural purposes since the beginning of last year to date with 67 projects with a total value of more than one billion and 881 million Syrian pounds, followed by Hama governorate with 44 projects worth more than one billion and 642 million Syrian pounds.

In a statement to SANA’s representative, Ibrahim Zaidan, the general manager of the bank, explained that the bank granted loans amounting to more than 6 billion and 69 million pounds last year to date, for the purpose of purchasing and installing renewable energy equipment in the governorates of Homs, Hama, Aleppo, Daraa, Damascus, Sweida, Lattakia and Tartous, indicating that most of the projects are dedicated to generating electricity. For wells, followed by agricultural manufacturing facilities, poultry houses and beef cattle.

Zaidan pointed out that the bank's branches have witnessed a good demand from citizens since the beginning of the year to obtain renewable energy loans, indicating that 100 billion pounds were allocated from the bank for various types of loans, and there is sufficient flexibility to request additional credits.

The bank grants loans to finance the purchase and installation of renewable energy equipment, solar water heater, panels, batteries, transformers, connections, regulator devices, iron bases, and collector holders, whether on a short or long term basis.

According to the bank’s data, during the mentioned period, the number of loans for projects to generate electricity from solar energy in As-Suwayda governorate amounted to 24 with a total value of 450 million and 900 thousand pounds, in Damascus 19 loans worth 596 million and 300 thousand pounds, in Aleppo 14 loans with a value of 677 million and 700 thousand pounds, and in Daraa 13 loans with a value of 596 million and 300 thousand pounds 662 million and 820 thousand pounds, in Tartous 5 loans worth 57 million pounds, and in Lattakia, two projects worth 100 million pounds.
