The Director of the Livestock Development Project in the Ministry of Agriculture, Eng. Muhammad Hassan Akko, indicated that the number of loans granted by microfinance funds since the establishment of the project until the end of last year amounted to 8,338 loans, with a value of about 1.5 billion and 500 million Syrian pounds.
In a statement to SANA, Akko indicated that these amounts are in-kind loans that include sheep, goats, chickens, fodder and production requirements, pointing out that the ceiling of the granted loans has been raised from 200,000 Syrian pounds to one million pounds, with a grace period of three months, after which repayment is made over a period of time. 24 months, while the number of newly created funds reached 78, in which 16,167 shareholders participated, including 6,946 women.
Akko stressed that the educators who benefit from these loans do not bear any administrative or financial burdens, except for securing two sponsors from the same village, explaining that the goal is to support rural families and help create the nucleus of small or micro projects and achieve self-sufficiency.
