Google Pay and Apple Pay are no longer available to customers of large banks in Russia
Following the sanctions that most Western countries are partners in, credit cards of leading Russian banks have been removed from online payment services.
Despite this, it is estimated that the harm to Russians as a result of the move is minimal, due to the low level of penetration of these services into trade in Russia.

Had such a step been taken against a Western country, the embarrassment it would have suffered in the face of harming its citizens would have been great.
Despite this, it seems that the next dramatic step will have little effect on Russia's economy: the suspension of credit cards of a number of leading banks in the country from Google and Apple's payment services, following the announcement of sanctions against Russia.
Users of the apps that hold credit cards issued by leading banks in Russia have found that they can no longer use Google Pay and Apple Pay using the cards.

Big banks, small impact
Among the banks on whose behalf credit cards have been restricted due to the move are several recognized financial institutions across Russia, such as: Promsvya Bankw, SovcomBank, Otkritie Bank, VTB group, Novicom Bank and others.
Customers of these banks can still make transactions within Russia or even, to the extent that they stay abroad to make use of them, but can no longer use them within the framework of popular applications or even to order goods from one of the Western countries participating in sanctions imposed on the Russian economy
. Note that the apps that have become very popular in Western Europe and the US are not so popular in Russia and therefore their impact on the daily lives of citizens is less than it would have been on a Western country where many businesses have moved to pay their payments through technology giants.
