Brent crude oil closed today at $118.11 a barrel, its highest level since 2008.
According to Agence France-Presse, the price of a barrel of Brent crude for May delivery rose by $7.65, or 6.92 percent, during today's trading session.
US West Texas Intermediate crude rose by $8.01, or 7.4 percent, to settle at $115.68 a barrel.
Gas and oil prices continue to record a record high throughout the European continent, which is also witnessing a decline in the value of its single currency against the dollar, with its continued imposition of sanctions on Russia against the backdrop of its military operation in Ukraine.
