On the way to full privatization of the postal company, the postal market opened up to competition: The postal reform, led by Communications Minister Yoaz Handel, was approved on second and third reading.
As part of the amendment to the law, a number of structural changes will be made
:
⁃ Opening the letter market to full competition will allow holders of mail distribution permits to enter a field of activity that until now was exclusively by the postal company.
⁃ Administrative flexibility for the Israel Postal Company, which will increase its freedom of action to develop additional businesses and expand its services.
⁃ Flexibility of tariffs will be given to the postal company that will increase competition, while setting minimum and maximum prices that will ensure fair prices to the public.
⁃ Anchoring extensive supervisory and enforcement powers over the postal market.
⁃ The complementary reform will include the improvement of the service to the public while making the services accessible through innovative direct and online channels to all who are interested.

"Good news for the citizens of Israel"
Minister of Communications, Yoaz Handel
: "The amendment approved today in the Knesset is a huge message to the citizens of Israel and the entire economy. We are removing unnecessary restrictions from the post office, and we will create effective incentive mechanisms for switching to efficient and innovative postal services. I would like to thank The partnership and the dedicated and professional care. "
Director General of the Ministry of Communications, Liran Avishar Ben-Horin
: "The Israeli public receives quality and advanced postal services.
The Postal Law has not changed since 2003 and all attempts to amend it have failed.
Today, in the Knesset, we passed a historic reform that takes us one step further to significantly improve the service we receive.
We are opening the letter market to competition, freeing the postal company from regulatory shackles on the one hand and expanding enforcement tools on the other.
The competition that the reform of the postal market will bring along with the privatization of the postal company will provide a holistic solution to today's challenges, and will enable the Israeli public to receive excellent and advanced postal services. "
