The number of business creations in France fell sharply in February over one month, after the monthly record in January, according to figures published Friday by INSEE.
In February, 86,734 companies were created in France, in figures adjusted for seasonal variations and the number of working days, or 4.7% less than the previous month, details the National Institute of Statistics.
In particular, the number of new micro-enterprises fell sharply, down 7.3%, after jumping 4.1% in January.
The creation of traditional companies fell slightly by 0.4%, after a virtual stability in January (+0.1%).
Over the past twelve months, the number of business creations has increased by 13.7%.

By sector in February, creations fell sharply in business support (-9% over one month), and in the education, health and social action branch (-8.5%).
These two areas had experienced "
very marked increases in January
", underlines INSEE.
The household services sector also recorded a sharp drop (-7.7%), like that of transport and warehousing (-8.4%), which includes delivery services, and had experienced a very strong increase in particular during the confinements put in place to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.
Conversely, creations increased sharply in accommodation and catering (+9.5%) or in financial and insurance activities (+5.4%), indicates INSEE.
