Low-cost tickets to make tourists want to travel again after two years of pandemic.
This is the scenario favored by air transport experts at the beginning of February.
But the invasion of Ukraine, which led to soaring energy costs, turned the tide.
For the past fortnight, long-haul ticket prices have been soaring.
Forty euros more for a round trip Paris-Pointe-à-Pitre (Guadeloupe) on Air France, initially sold for 447 euros;
30 euros extra for a Paris-Saint-Denis flight from Reunion with Air Austral.
On average, tricolor air carriers have increased from 7% to 8%.
“As a result of the rise in fuel prices and other exogenous cost items, Air France is increasing all of its long-haul fares
,” explains the national company.
