The President of the Central Bank of Russia, Elvira Nabiullina, announced today that more than 50 foreign companies have joined the Russian financial correspondent system, the peer-to-peer banking system of SWIFT.
"Now the users of the Russian money transfer program have become 52 companies from 12 countries," Nabiullina was quoted by the RIA Novosti news agency as saying in a speech to the Russian State Duma.
It is worth noting that more than 11,000 participants in all countries of the world are connected to the SWIFT interbank system, but the Russian Central Bank has begun work on creating an alternative to making money transfers due to the threat to separate Russian institutions from the SWIFT system, as the European Union has separated seven major Russian banks from it.
