German Economy Minister Robert Habeck warned today of the repercussions of the European ban on Russian oil imports, indicating that it may lead to supply disruptions and an increasing rise in prices.
"We cannot guarantee in the case of a gradual European ban on Russian oil imports that there will be no disturbances, especially regional ones," Habek was quoted by AFP as saying.
Earlier today, the European Commission revealed details of the sixth package of sanctions that the European Union intends to impose against Russia, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said: The sixth package includes a gradual ban on oil imports from Russia.
Following this announcement, oil prices jumped by about 4 percent, and Brent contracts were traded at $110 a barrel.
