Wage portage: a label of trust to fight against hidden costs in the payslip

2022-05-06T12:58:18.323Z

What are hidden charges? Which label to choose? The association of wage portage users, Fedep's, at the origin of the alert, takes stock of the subject and the guarantees provided by the labels.

What are the hidden costs in wage portage?

The association has revealed the practices of over-invoicing of employer's charges by certain wage portage companies.

The main media, in particular Le Monde, Les Echos, France Inter's investigation unit, Médiapart, Alternatives Économiques, France 3, etc., echoed this (Portage salarial: costs that are still just as well hidden).

The courts have been seized by many aggrieved employees and a judicial investigation is underway.

Far from being an isolated practice, several umbrella companies involved are among the largest in the market.

The amounts can vary from 3% to 7% of the gross salary or even more depending on the umbrella companies.

Fedep's, association for the defense of wage portage employees, has drawn up a list of companies and practices.

These additional costs are directly inserted in the payslip of the employees carried, or taken from the account of carried by slipping them into the payroll by the use of a "retrocession coefficient" which does not correspond to the reality of the charges. employers.

The employees carried do not notice these lines because of the technical nature of the payslip.

However, the wage portage company is a trusted third party that collects the turnover on behalf of the bearer, and takes care of the payment of salary and employer charges for the latter...

Who is Fedep's, the association of wage portage users?

Fedep's is a non-profit association representing users of wage portage, and independent of portage companies.

Members are mainly supported employees, as well as client companies.

The association has been a whistleblower since 2017 on the subject, and helps employees and user companies on all subjects related to wage portage: legal environment, conditions for using wage portage, case analysis, handling of disputes with carrier companies.

The association supports both employees who are victims of fraudulent practices in calculating their damage and recovering overpaid amounts, and user companies in setting up monitoring of their suppliers as part of a CSR approach.

Fedep's monitors the practices of more than forty portage companies.

And since 2020, the association has set up a Label for users of wage portage.

The label zero hidden costs in wage portage

To respond to the request of many candidates for portage who want guarantees and control of the use of their assets, the association has set up the Zero Hidden Costs Label.

It scrutinizes compliance by the portage company with the regulations specific to wage portage, and transparency on management costs: absence of hidden costs, good level of employer charges deducted from the employee, absence of "retrocession coefficient" or another sleight of hand... This Label of wage portage is awarded after a complete financial audit of the accounts of the candidate portage company over the last two years, and is then subject to monitoring, follow-up, and maintenance audits every one or two years.

The reference framework is drawn up by the Fedep's association, and the audit is entrusted to an independent external audit firm specializing in financial audits.

The criteria are simple (no hidden costs) and strict, designed by Fedep's, an association whose governance is defined by the members, who are only users of portage services: 95% of employees in portage, 5% of companies clients.

While various allegations are flourishing on the sites of carrying companies, the Zero Hidden Fees Label is the only independent reference in the carrying sector and guarantees the absence of hidden costs.

Today, it is increasingly adopted by ethical carrying companies and by users and prescribers on the market.

Launched 2 years ago, today 9 companies are certified, representing around €300 million in turnover, or 20% of the estimated market.

The path for the moralization of wage portage will be drawn by the vigilance of employees and client companies.

Informed users of wage portage and portage companies audited and labeled Zero Hidden Fees are already contributing to it.
