Hama Industrialists: Supporting Textile and Vegetable Oil Industries

Hama, SANA- The industrialists of Hama Governorate demanded to increase the shares of their facilities from electricity and industrial fuel oil and to support industrial facilities

The industrialists of Hama Governorate demanded to increase their facilities’ shares of electricity and industrial diesel, support textile industries, grant facilities to license facilities specialized in the pistachio crop, support the vegetable oil industry, encourage industrialists to adopt alternative energy projects, and grant them facilities and discounts, especially for facilities affected by terrorism.

The industrialists also called during the annual meeting of the General Authority of the Hama Chamber of Industry today to reconsider the decision of the Hama City Council regarding granting the industrialists allocated in the partitions in the expansion of the first industrial zone a deadline for a specified period for licensing and construction works, as it is not sufficient due to the increase in the prices of building materials and their fluctuation and attention to the issue of services in the region The industrial zone includes electricity, infrastructure, and services for the industrial zone in Salamiyah, which includes 450 partitions, 200 of which are invested.

Minister of Industry Ziad Al-Sabbagh stressed during the meeting that the government’s directives during the current period are to support agricultural and industrial production according to the available capabilities and to invest the available materials to cover the needs of the various productive sectors and to move towards agricultural industrialization and the adoption of contract farming, especially sugar beet, and cooperation with the Farmers Union and the General Organization for Ginning and Marketing of Cotton To contract on cotton cultivation to secure cotton and its seeds for the work of vegetable oil facilities, in addition to the facilities granted to industries and facilities by securing production requirements such as cotton and seeds.

The Minister of Industry pointed to the importance of the Authority's meeting to discuss the industrial reality in Hama and the issues of concern to industrialists, in a way that contributes to overcoming the obstacles and challenges facing them and reaching effective solutions in this regard.

Engineer Fares Al-Shihabi, head of the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Industry, indicated that the Federation is working on submitting proposals to the concerned authorities to develop laws and legislation that protect the industrial sector and support industrial facilities, especially with fuel and electricity.

The Governor of Hama, Engineer Muhammad Tariq Kreishati, drew attention to the approval of allocating 700 million pounds for the drainage project and 209 million pounds for roads in the expansion of the industrial zone in Hama.

Head of Hama Chamber of Industry Ziad Arabo pointed out the Chamber’s role in attracting young people through the Training and Rehabilitation Center through specialized courses while securing job opportunities for them by communicating with the owners of industrial establishments.

The meeting was attended by the Secretary of the Hama branch of the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party, Ashraf Bashouri.
