Data from the Shebaa (Automatic Banking Services) Company, the director of the national credit card payment system, indicate a continuing upward trend in Israeli public spending on credit cards. Expenses due to Passover.



During May, credit card transactions in the GSS systems totaled more than NIS 37.049 billion, an increase of 11.2% compared to May 2021, when the total expenditure amounted to NIS 33.332 billion.

The GSA data show that the average daily expenditure in May 2022 was NIS 1.195 billion, an increase of 1.8% compared to the average daily expenditure in April 2022 which was NIS 1.174 billion. The average daily expenditure in May 2021 was NIS 1.075 billion.



What can we learn from the data? According to Eitan Lev Tov, CEO of the ISA, the data reflect the fixation of the shopping method that intensified during the closures: "The shopping habits that the Israeli public has adopted in Corona have become permanent," says Lev Tov.
