The participants in the workshop on quality management systems related to food safety “HACCP”, which was held within the activities of the “Food Expo 2022” exhibition, confirmed the presence of qualified cadres in Syria capable of improving the quality of products and services in Syria by taking advantage of the available infrastructure and keeping pace with global developments and developments.
In a statement to Sana Muhammad Hossam Al Sheikha, Director of Measurement and Quality at the Ministry of Industry, he pointed out that the ministry’s goal in participating in the workshop is to identify all developments, requirements and international standards on the subject of food safety systems and analyze the risks of critical control points to apply them more in industrial facilities, pointing out that the lecture dealt with the seven principles of the system HACCP, how to develop plans and programs related to this subject, differentiate between pre-programs and other programs, in addition to knowing the concerns and problems that hinder the application of quality and how to overcome them and benefit from the expertise in the private sector.
Basma Ibrahim, head of the Syrian Scientific Society for Quality, indicated that the association seeks to spread a culture through seminars, workshops and other procedures, and for this purpose, it signed earlier a memorandum of understanding with the Management and Productivity Development Center at the Ministry of Industry, indicating that the association has experts to support all industrial companies and can translate specifications It is the only civil society in Syria that celebrates the National Quality Day in the month of November of each year, which was approved by the Council of Ministers.
Engineer Buthaina Al-Yousifi, a member of the Syrian Scientific Society for Quality and a trainer in the field of quality standards, stressed the importance of applying quality standards, with a focus on introductory programs, the application of good manufacturing practices and risk analysis, and demanded the necessity of an independent food and drug authority similar to other countries, noting that the application of quality standards in industrial companies It contributes to reducing production costs, helps the entry of local products into foreign markets, and enhances consumer confidence in them, especially that most companies intend to implement the quality system.
