The Directorate of Communications in the city of Shanghai, east China, announced the completion of the construction of 51,716 base stations for the fifth generation communication technology networks until the end of last April.
According to Xinhua, data released by the directorate show that the average annual growth rate of 5G network base stations in Shanghai exceeded 65 percent in recent years and until last April, when the city built 8.2 stations per square kilometer.
According to the data, since June 2019, telecom companies in Shanghai have accelerated their investments in the fifth generation network, as the investments of telecom operators in the city's fixed assets amounted to 37.56 billion yuan until April of this year, while investments in the fifth generation network amounted to 12.3 billion yuan, representing 32.8 percent. of the total investment.
