During its meeting today, headed by the Prime Minister, Engineer Hussein Arnous, the Supreme Investment Council conducted a follow-up to the reality of the implementation of investment projects that obtained an investment license in accordance with the provisions of Law 18 of 2021, which numbered 32 projects at an estimated cost of 1.357 trillion Syrian pounds and provide 2,875 job opportunities.

The projects that obtained an investment license are concentrated in the sectors of the food, chemical and textile industries, renewable energies, medicines, medical supplies, baby milk production, wood industry, building materials, paper and metal industries, detergents, oils, obesity, phosphate fertilizers industry, in addition to wheat milling, manufacturing, production and preservation of fruits and food appetizers, manufacture of chargers of all kinds, laptops and shipping links. data transfer, services, etc.

The Supreme Investment Council approved a project to establish a factory for the manufacture of excavators and drilling equipment at an estimated cost of 4.626 billion pounds and is expected to provide 183 job opportunities, and a project to build a three-star hotel in Homs Governorate.

The Council of Damascus Governorate also agreed to start negotiating with the company wishing to invest the site of the 47th division project in the Baramkeh area, and the areas to be added to the 1937 property in the Islam Tower in Latakia for the Ministry of Tourism and the investment of a three-star heritage hotel in the center of Hama city.

The council decided to allow the temporary entry of limited numbers of cars for tourism projects whose value exceeds 30 billion pounds and those contracted with public authorities and administrative units and duly certified in accordance with the decisions of the Supreme Council for Tourism.

Engineer Arnous stressed the need for continuous follow-up to the implementation stages of each project until it was put into production and to overcome any obstacles to implementation, and to focus on investing in the agricultural sector, which is the main carrier of the national economy and its important role in the gross domestic product and its contribution to achieving food security and providing job opportunities for large segments, stressing the The need to identify development priorities in all regions in a way that enhances community economic development, secures the local market requirements of various materials, and reduces the import bill.

The meeting, which was attended by the ministers of local administration, economy, tourism, public works, finance, agriculture, industry, internal trade, social affairs, labor and the state for investment affairs, the Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, the head of the Planning and International Cooperation Authority, the governor of the Central Bank of Syria, the governors of Damascus and Hama, and a number of stakeholders in the field of investment, discussed mechanisms and procedures for giving impetus Greater and working with maximum energies and capabilities to activate the investment law by preparing ready-made files for investment projects and presenting them to investors and continuing to provide all the facilities and benefits included in the new investment law in a way that activates the investment reality in all governorates and achieves balanced and sustainable economic development, community and optimal investment of the ingredients that characterize each region.

The Council reviewed the industrial and agricultural projects that meet the requirements required and presented for obtaining an investment license and include a number of vital fields and sectors, in addition to a number of projects that are coordinated with the Ministry of Industry to obtain an industrial license for them. Investing and overcoming any difficulties that may occur in coordination and cooperation between the various concerned parties, and in accordance with the provisions of the Investment Law.

The Planning and International Cooperation Authority was assigned to coordinate with the concerned authorities regarding development areas to optimally manage the economic geography file.
