While a social movement is disrupting Ile-de-France this Friday, SNCF railway workers are called to go on strike on Wednesday July 6 to demand wage increases, the unions have announced.
“The post-pandemic and geostrategic context, with the war in Ukraine, is causing a price spike unmatched for 40 years”, worry in a joint press release the CGT-Cheminots, SUD-Rail and the CFDT.
"Railway workers are hard hit" and "suffer a clear and strong decline in their purchasing power", say the unions.
On June 16, all the representative organizations made a “request for immediate consultation” on the question of salaries to the president of the SNCF, Jean-Pierre Farandou.
“The management refused to receive the trade union organizations (…) referring the exchanges to ongoing bilateral meetings”, deplores the press release.
Salaries, bonuses and allowances
The railway workers are asking for “measures to catch up with salary inflation”, but also “a general increase in salaries and the revaluation of bonuses” or even “a revaluation of all allowances, gratuities and indemnities”.
Unsa-ferroviaire has not yet joined the strike call and will give its response to its participation on June 28th.
All SNCF staff are affected by this call to stop work.
