The revenues of the General Organization for Free Zones from the beginning of this year until the end of last May amounted to 13.471 billion Syrian pounds, while during the same period last year it was 12.865 billion pounds.
In a report on the material and qualitative indicators of the performance of its work, SANA obtained a copy of today, the Foundation pointed out that the value of goods and imports for the same period amounted to 107 billion Syrian pounds, and the value of goods and exports was 89 billion Syrian pounds, while the value of goods and exports during the same period last year was 43 billion Syrian Pound.
According to the report, the total customs duties collected by the General Customs Directorate as a result of placing goods and machinery in the free zones for local consumption amounted to 13 billion Syrian pounds, while during the same period last year it amounted to 8 billion Syrian pounds. The number of investors in the free zones until the end of last May reached 743 investors.
The report indicated that in the context of ensuring the stability of investment work in the free zones, the Ministry of Economy and Foreign Trade allowed investors in the free zone in Damascus to conclude and renew their contracts with the General Organization for Free Zones until the end of 2027 and to reconsider the possibility of renewing them for additional periods in the event that the new zone was not implemented in the alternative location within The real estate development project in the center of Damascus, which is scheduled to be established in the Basateen channels area (governmental buildings, the Damascus free zone and customs).
It is noteworthy that the total revenues of the free zones amounted to 26 billion Syrian pounds last year, and the value of goods and imports was 89 billion Syrian pounds, and the value of goods and exports was 168 billion Syrian pounds.
