An official with China's National Development and Reform Commission, Ou Hong, stressed his country's ability to deal with all kinds of unexpected changes to ensure healthy, sound and sustainable economic development.
The Chinese news agency Xinhua quoted Hong as saying that his country has full confidence in overcoming the difficulties and challenges facing development, pointing to the strong resilience and great potential of the Chinese economy, which showed marginal improvement last May with the recovery of major indicators.
Hong said that policies that support growth have been activated and that his country will release high-quality coal production capacity in an orderly manner and accelerate the construction of large-scale wind power and photovoltaic power bases in desert areas, stressing the need to ensure food and energy security, industrial chain and supply chains.
And official Chinese data showed that China's foreign trade rebounded last May, as total imports and exports rose by 9.6 percent year on year to 3.45 trillion yuan.
