Following the death of Leonardo Del Vecchio, EssilorLuxottica's Board of Directors appointed the company's current Chief Executive Francesco Milleri as its new Chairman until the end of his current term.
The manufacturer of corrective lenses also indicated on Tuesday that it had taken
“the decision to assess the relevance of appointing a lead director from among its independent members.”
A final nomination must be made on this subject by the end of the year.
In an interview with
Le Figaro
dated March, Francesco Milleri summarized the state of mind of EssilorLuxottica, a new group undermined by a governance struggle between French and Italians:
“Today we are a single company with a single management, leaders who work together in trust.”
