Behind this movement, the will of the employees to obtain an increase in their wages, an event which has not occurred since 2014 according to a representative quoted by

Le Parisien

.

In the context of inflation, the company LxA, concessionaire of the shops, proposed a revaluation deemed “

very significant

” but which did not convince the unions.

The strike movement has been going on since the beginning of the week.

200 euros requested

The concessionaire currently opens five stores during the day and only one in the evening to accommodate the walkout.

If he claims to "

understand

" the requests for revaluation, he says he must adapt to the "

economic reality of the company

".

The employees have indeed demanded an increase of 200 euros, a request rejected by management, which has proposed an amount of 130 euros.

The exchanges are currently at an impasse, but leaders and unions should return to the negotiating table very soon.

This movement takes place while the town hall of Paris is striving in this context to improve the "

visitor experience

" in Paris: around the Eiffel Tower, two police operations have been carried out in recent weeks, reports

Le Monde

, in order to dislodge the street vendors.

Because the period is crucial for the Parisian tourist sector, while the capital expects 33 million visitors this year, levels quite close to the pre-pandemic (38 million people had visited the capital in 2019).
