No more blocks for Moscow: The Danish toy company Lego will cease commercial operations in Russia indefinitely.
The Lego Group made this decision in view of the ongoing significant disruptions in the operating environment, a company spokeswoman said at the request of the dpa news agency.
This includes ending the partnership with the operating company Inventive Retail Group (IRG), which owns and operates the 81 Russian branches under the Lego brand name.
Most employees in Moscow are laid off.
The Danish news agency Ritzau first reported that Lego had terminated its contract with the IRG.
The building block giant from Billund, Denmark had already announced in March that it would no longer send Lego bricks and sets to Russia because of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
According to Ritzau, the 81 branches remained open.
However, there have been problems in the supply chain since June.
Since the Russian attack on Ukraine, numerous Western companies have withdrawn from Russia, including Apple, Coca-Cola, McDonald's and the Starbucks coffee house chain.
