Spanish Deputy Prime Minister Teresa Ribera expressed her country's government's rejection of the European Commission's proposal to reduce Russian gas consumption by 15 percent, indicating its unwillingness to make sacrifices.
And the Russia Today website quoted Ribera as saying that we defend European values, but we cannot make sacrifices that no one has heard of.
The European Commission had considered earlier that the complete ban on Russian gas is a possible scenario, calling on the European Union countries to reduce their gas consumption by 15 percent.
For its part, Germany expected Russia to resume its gas supply by 30%, and the German Federal Network Agency suggested that Russia would resume its gas supply via “Northern Stream 1” tomorrow, Thursday, at 30% of the natural quantity. It will reach enough to generate 530 gigawatt-hours, at about 30% of normal capacity.
The International Energy Agency called on the European Union countries last June to prepare to reduce gas consumption by 30 percent during the winter season, amid the shortage of supplies.
