Good news on the employment front.
Unemployment is down, according to figures for the second quarter of 2022, published by Dares (Department of Studies and Statistics) on Wednesday.
“In mainland France, the number of job seekers in category A fell by 0.6%
(-18,100) this quarter and by 15.6%
over a year,” the organization announced.
The number of people carrying out a reduced activity of at least 78 hours per month, i.e. the category B unemployed, also fell by
4.0% compared to the previous quarter.
Over the same period, that of people in long-term reduced activity (category C) decreased by 2.9%.
In total, the number of job seekers in categories A, B, C decreased by 1.8% over this quarter (-92,100) and by 9.1% over one year, details Dares.
For his part, the new Minister of Labor presented this Wednesday in our pages his ideas for unemployment insurance, while insisting on the objective of full employment by 2027.
Categories D and E up slightly
Category D job seekers (i.e. required to look for a job but who are not directly available), concern 716,300 people in July 2022. Over this quarter, the number of registered in category D increases by 0.6%.
Furthermore, the number of category E job seekers with a job (creation of a business, subsidized contract, etc.) fell by 0.1%.
-8.9% for categories A, B and C combined over one year
In France (including the overseas regions, excluding Mayotte), the number of job seekers stood at 3,165,900 for category A. It fell by 0.8% over the quarter (-15 .1% over one year).
For categories A, B, C, this number stands at 5,436,100. It decreased by 1.7% over this quarter and by 8.9% over one year.
