The work of the Syrian-Emirati Council started this evening during its general assembly meeting at the Four Seasons Hotel in Damascus. The meeting focused on the council's work plan for the next stage, which includes developing economic relations between Syria and the UAE and establishing economic partnerships.

Council Chairman Ghazwan Al-Masry stressed the importance of seeking to increase trade exchange and establish investment projects between the two countries, in addition to encouraging Syrian and Emirati businessmen to invest in Syria. The two countries guarantee the availability of products at acceptable prices and with guaranteed quality.

Al-Masry stressed that the UAE is one of Syria's most important trading partners at the global level, as it ranks first in the Arab world and third globally in the commercial field and holds 14% of Syria's foreign trade.

The Vice-President of the Council, Anas Maatouq, stated that the council’s goal is to improve the reality of investments, activate trade and investment exchange with the UAE in all fields, and benefit from Investment Law No. 18 of 2021 and the attractive environment for investment in Syria. He urged the Syrian side to benefit from all business prospects in the UAE by forming solid partnerships. with her.

Maatouk pointed out that the council's work plan for the coming year includes preparing for mutual visits by businessmen in the two countries, increasing the space for the Food Expo, urging Syrian businessmen to visit exhibitions held in the UAE, activating the movement of exports, and urging Emirati businessmen to invest in Syria in various sectors, including energy. Renewables, health, industry, agriculture, tourism and training and rehabilitation projects for Syrian human resources.

For his part, Director of International Economic Cooperation at the Ministry of Economy and Foreign Trade, Dr. Anas Al-Baqai, explained that the Syrian-Emirati Business Council is a legal entity that is administratively and financially independent and is subject to the internal system governing it to reach a joint economic cooperative work that serves the development of economic relations between the two countries, especially with regard to introducing institutions and companies. And the laws and regulations in both, the promotion of exports and the establishment of joint exhibitions.

During the meeting, the board of directors was formed and Hussam Abdeen, Omran Shaaban, Ahmed Zeido, Louay Nahlawi and Walid Houria were elected to become the board of 7 members, with the chairman and his deputy.

On October 20 last year, the Ministry of Economy and Foreign Trade issued a decision to form the Syrian-Emirati Business Council, which included naming Ghazwan Al-Masri as chairman of the council and Anas Maatouq as vice-chairman.
