The Russian Strategic Research Center has announced that Russia will have enough oil and gas for many years with continued demand.
"It can be assured with certainty that there will be enough oil in Russia for many years, with continued demand, and in an emergency situation there are technologies for the production of synthetic liquid fuels from other resources such as gas and coal, which are considered non-existent," the center's official, Sergey Kolobanov, told RIA Novosti. It is able to compete in the current economic conditions, but its use is possible.”
He explained that in the conditions of maintaining the current level of oil production at about 500 million tons annually, Russian oil reserves could be sufficient for at least 20 years and a maximum for 40 years, pointing out that these figures may change due to the continued exploration and renewal of oil reserves annually.
With regard to gas, he pointed out that Russia possesses larger reserves and resources, ie more than 74 trillion cubic meters of recoverable reserves and about 190 trillion cubic meters of expected resources, expressing his belief that this amount will be sufficient for a period ranging between 80 and 100 years of production.
