The Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Eng. Mohamed Hassan Qatana, discussed today with a Sudanese agricultural technical delegation headed by Badr El-Din Sheikh Mohamed El-Hassan, Undersecretary of Agriculture and Forestry, organizing the agricultural calendar and activating the agreements signed between the two countries.

Minister Qatna stressed the importance of strengthening joint Arab cooperation because it is the basis for achieving food security, pointing out that the agricultural sector is sensitive and affected by global economic and climatic changes, and therefore it is necessary to organize the agricultural calendar and the agreements signed between countries.

Qatna pointed out the need for each country to pay attention to specific crops that have a comparative advantage of their own, and the production is in line with the natural resources in them and in a manner that achieves trade exchange between Arab countries and contributes to achieving agricultural integration and self-sufficiency, pointing to the reformulation of the joint scientific and technical cooperation agreement with Sudan and the need to transform it To an executive program to enhance the exchange of agricultural products between the two countries, especially in the field of fodder, livestock and the results of agricultural scientific research.

The Director General of the Arab Center for Studies of Dry Areas and Arid Lands, ACSAD, Dr. Nasr Al-Din Al-Obeid stressed the organization's keenness to promote Arab rapprochement and strengthen cooperation relations in a way that supports the agricultural sector in all Arab countries and achieves development, pointing to the great support provided by Syria, the country of the headquarters of the Center, especially the Ministry of Agriculture.

Al-Obeid indicated that ACSAD is currently implementing in Sudan the third phase of the optimal land use map project, which includes 13 million hectares in the states of Blue Nile, White Nile and Gezira, after the implementation of the first and second phases, which amounted to 103 million hectares.

Director General of International Relations at the Sudanese Ministry of Agriculture and Forests, Dr. Fatima Mohamed Rahma, stressed the importance of meeting with the Minister of Agriculture and technicians in the ministry and the need to develop relations to advance the agricultural sector in the two countries and increase trade exchange.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister Dr. Rami Al-Ali, Director General of the General Authority for Scientific Agricultural Research, Director General of the Feed Foundation, and a number of central directors in the Ministry.
