SNCF is considering a
"company train"
, a formula that companies could offer their employees in 2024 instead of a company car, the TGV boss said on Tuesday.
This idea would make it possible to
"respond to the challenges of sustainable development, while providing advantages comparable to the company car"
, noted the director of TGV-Intercités, Alain Krakovitch.
“It still remains to be built
,” he told AFP.
He is considering “an end-to-end offer” which would allow,
“probably within the framework of the mobility credit”
, to combine public transport – obviously the train –,
“soft mobility
” and car rental.
"There are a lot of individual company cars in France today, 2.8 million
," he explained.
“This is still the main mobility advantage offered by companies to their employees.”
The impractical company car
“I find it interesting to think about an alternative that we could offer to companies that themselves would like to be able to offer their senior managers other solutions that better meet the growing aspirations of more eco-responsible mobility
,” he said. -he adds.
"The young recruits will be sensitive to it, I think
," said Alain Krakovitch.
More generally, discussions with its key accounts show that executives do not necessarily have a license, find the company car impractical or
“are not always comfortable”
with the idea of having a professional vehicle, even hybrid or electric, he noted.

The TGV-Intercités marketing department is working on it with client companies and “BtoH” specialists (exchanges between employers and employees, such as Ticket Restaurant), he noted, planning a gradual launch from 2024. Alain Krakovitch was to discuss this initiative on Tuesday evening during the presentation of the
"grands prix de l'écomobilité"
, rewarding companies and travel agencies having a contract with the SNCF who have the most virtuous travel policies.
The TGV boss launched a resounding controversy a few days ago by offering his services to PSG, who had taken the plane, not the train, to get from Paris to Nantes.
He had more discreetly proposed at the end of August to think about the establishment of
"carbon quotas
" for travelers.
