Wall Street: 16 giants pay 1.1 billion in penalties for not keeping their employees' text messages

Citigroup, Goldman Sachs, Deutche Bank and the others “have not maintained or preserved the vast majority of these communications made outside official channels, in violation of stock market laws”, explains the American financial markets policeman in a press release.


Sixteen Wall Street institutions have agreed to pay $1.1 billion in penalties to the US financial markets watchdog, the SEC, for failing to properly store messages exchanged by their employees from their own mobile devices.
