Preliminary data from the German Federal Statistical Office showed that inflation in the country accelerated during the month of September to reach a new record.
According to a statement issued by the office today, reported by German media, the inflation index rose to the level of 10 percent on an annual basis from the level of 7.9 percent recorded last month, exceeding the index thus exceeding the maximum levels recorded earlier.
The office indicated that consumer prices rose by 1.9 percent, while expectations were for a rise of only 1.3 percent.
Analysts had previously expected the index to rise to a level of 9.4 percent only, but it deviated from their expectations, while attributing this significant rise to the rise in the prices of energy products.
