Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak confirmed that the damage to the infrastructure of the North Stream gas pipeline that transports Russian gas to Europe can be repaired, but that it takes time and money.
"Certainly, there are technical possibilities to repair the infrastructure in the North Stream, but it takes a lot of time and money," TASS news agency quoted Novak as saying today.
Novak added that the United States, Ukraine and Poland have announced in the past that this infrastructure of the current will not work and that they will do everything for this, and therefore we must seriously consider this matter, as they may have an interest in disrupting this line.
Nord Stream AG, the operator of the two North Stream lines, announced that it is planned to start assessing the damage after receiving official permits, while access to the required area can only be allowed after the pressure in the infrastructure has stabilized and the leak has stopped.
Last week, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova confirmed that the incident of gas leakage from the Northern Stream pipelines occurred in the area controlled by US intelligence, calling on US President Joe Biden to issue a response on whether Washington carried out its threat to stop the pipelines.
