German energy giant RWE announced on Tuesday that it wants to end coal-fired electricity generation by 2030, advancing its plans by eight years.

We are going to end the production of electricity from lignite in 2030, which is twice as fast as expected
,” RWE boss Markus Krebber told a press conference.
This will make it possible to save 280 million tonnes of CO2, specified the Ecologist Minister of the Economy, Robert Habeck, during this conference.
