The British pound rose in overnight trading, after British Prime Minister Liz Truss announced her resignation from her post after chaos in the financial and economic policies she had taken, ending the shortest term of a prime minister in Britain's history.
The pound sterling rose more than 1% in trading this evening to $1.133, up from $1.11 at the beginning of Thursday's session.
Terrace announced her resignation from the leadership of the Conservative Party earlier today, which came only six weeks after she became prime minister, as she assumed the premiership on the fifth of last September after winning the party leadership to succeed Boris Johnson.
Trass faced pressure to resign after being forced to cancel a tax cut plan described as "disastrous", which caused turmoil in the markets in the midst of a severe cost-of-living crisis.
For its part, the British Ministry of Finance announced that the mini-financial plan will remain in force until the end of this month, despite the resignation of Terrace.
