She was the star of Silicon Valley, considered a genius and her startup Theranos seemed like a huge promise.

All this soon dissipated, and Elizabeth Holmes, "the next Steve Jobs", will spend the next few years in prison.

Holmes, 38, founded Theranos in Palo Alto when she was just 19.

The company claimed to have created a blood test tool that required very small amounts of blood and was considered groundbreaking.

These claims earned her hundreds of millions of dollars from investors, and in 2014 her value was estimated at $9 billion.

Holmes has been called "the next Steve Jobs" due to her seemingly brilliant vision, and even took care in her clothing style to remind Jobs, who used to wear black polo shirts.

In 2015, researchers questioned the credibility of Theranos, it turned out that the studies they presented were never done and lawsuits and legal proceedings began against the company, until it completely lost its value.

Holmes herself was accused of defrauding investors and prosecuted after a lawsuit by the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Her verdict according to which she is guilty was given in January and tonight the sentence was also given - 11 years, four less than the prosecution demanded.

A film about Holmes is currently being produced.

Jennifer Lawrence was supposed to star in the role of Holmes, but about two weeks ago she announced that she would not take part in it.

The reason: Amanda Seyfried's performance as Holmes in the Hulu TV series The Dropout.

"I think she did a wonderful job," said Lawrence, "I see no reason to imitate that."
