The Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection clarified that the price of a kilo of direct sugar has become 4,600 Syrian pounds, due to the change in global prices of the substance and its rise, indicating that the price of subsidized sugar on the electronic card has not changed and is at 1,000 Syrian pounds per kilogram.
The ministry indicated in a statement, a copy of which SANA received today, that the direct sugar material was distributed in full, and new supplies were necessary to complete the distribution of this material, and due to the change in global sugar prices and their rise and the arrival of new supplies, the price per kilo became 4,600 Syrian pounds, after it was 3,800 pounds.
She pointed out that with regard to the advance that the Council of Ministers allocated to the Syrian Trade Corporation last week, it is for subsidized sugar on the card at a price of 1,000 pounds, in order to cover the deficit between the purchase and the selling price only, which is borne by the state, and the advance has nothing to do with the direct sugar sold on the card.
