The permanent Russian representative to international organizations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, confirmed that the European Union has lost the Russian Federation as the largest energy resource.
Russia Today quoted Ulyanov as saying on his Twitter page: "Europe has lost Russia as a major energy supplier to be able to buy American LNG at a much higher price."
The West imposed sanctions on Russia in the wake of the special military operation to protect Donbass, which led to a rise in electricity, fuel and food prices in Europe and the United States and the emergence of severe crises.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has previously said that cheap and reliable Russian energy resources are Europe's competitive advantage, and even the partial rejection of it prompted by the United States has already had a negative impact on its economy and population.
