Life insurance was neglected in October by savers, with outflows exceeding payments on contracts, according to figures published Thursday by the professional association France Assureurs.
As in August, outflows exceeded inflows in October, showing a net outflow of 0.3 billion euros.

In detail, all the contributions, that is to say the sums paid, totaled 11.5 billion euros in October, or 1.5 billion less than last year at the same time, while benefits (which include redemptions and payments in the event of death) amounted to 11.8 billion: this is 1.3 billion more than in October 2021. Euro funds, whose capital is guaranteed , are particularly affected by this disaffection.

This reflects a climate of uncertainty
,” Franck Le Vallois, managing director of France Assureurs, told the press.

The deterioration of the economic and financial environment, the deterioration of the business climate is generating concern among our compatriots and, basically, a wait-and-see attitude on the part of savers
", he specified.

The low return on euro funds, which is now lower, on average, than that of the Livret A, and the volatility of the stock markets are deterring households from making payments on their contracts
", commented Philippe Crevel, director of the Cercle de l 'Savings, which sees life insurance “

Since the start of the year, euro funds have suffered a real haemorrhage with an outflow of 17.1 billion euros, three times more than last year at the same period.
The units of account (UC), potentially more profitable, but also more risky, have on the other hand recorded a net inflow of 29.4 billion euros since January, a record.
At the end of October, total life insurance outstandings stood at 1,827 billion euros, compared to 1,876 billion at the end of December 2021.
