Airlines: the return to green still hoped for in 2023

According to the International Air Transport Association (Iata), airlines are expected to record a cumulative profit of $4.7 billion in 2023.


Airlines are expecting reduced losses in 2022 compared to their previous projections, and are still hoping for a return to the green globally next year, for the first time since the start of the health crisis.

Driven by the recovery in the United States, the companies should record a cumulative profit of 4.7 billion dollars in 2023, the International Air Transport Association (Iata) said on Tuesday, now estimating losses for 2022 at 6.9. billion against 9.7 billion mentioned so far.

These carriers lost a cumulative $180 billion in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid-19.
