The current "ZDF morning magazine" and thus one of the most important morning programs on German television was canceled on Tuesday.

"Our morning magazine is currently on strike and has to be cancelled," said the public broadcaster in Mainz on Twitter early in the morning.

"Without prior notice," unions had been on strike on ZDF broadcasting since the early morning, it said in the morning.

»As a result, the »ZDF morning magazine« could not be broadcast.

The editions of the »heute« programs are also affected.«

The "ZDF morning magazine" runs in weekly alternation with the so-called MoMa of the ARD.

The three-and-a-half-hour program can usually be seen Monday through Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. on the first and second channels.

Instead, the first was a repeat of an older "MoMa" edition on Tuesday.

ZDF also broadcast a replacement program.

At 9:00 a.m., the ARD “Tagesschau” was shown on ZDF instead of a “heute Xpress” edition.

"Morgenmagazin" moderator Dunja Hayali also informed about the warning strike via Twitter.

As the association of radio, film and television workers at ZDF (VRFF-ZDF) announced on its website, the warning strike was organized together with the German Association of Journalists and the Ver.di service union.

According to this, the employees wanted to stop working between 3 a.m. and 10.30 a.m.

The reason is that "nothing is really moving" in the salary negotiations at ZDF.

But the strikers are taken care of.

“There will be food and warm drinks in front of the ZDF high-rise building,” the organizers said.

Most recently, there had been collective bargaining conflicts in many public media houses, and agreements had already been reached between unions and ARD houses.

At ZDF, the next round of negotiations is planned for December 21, according to ZDF information.

According to the German Association of Journalists (DJV), there have been three rounds of negotiations so far.

ZDF employees in Mainz, Düsseldorf, Berlin and those who work at the ARD-ZDF joint program Phoenix in Bonn were called to the warning strike.
