Ambassador-at-Large at the Russian Foreign Ministry, Yuri Sentyurin, confirmed that the European Union's initiative regarding setting a ceiling for the price of Russian gas contradicts the rules of the market and will lead to its deterioration.
"Such measures are counter-market tools that will lead to bad consequences such as market deterioration, and a violation of international law," Senturin said in a statement today, according to RIA Novosti.
He pointed out that such initiatives destabilize markets, raise the level of ambiguity, and affect the economic process.
And the media reported earlier that the Czech Republic, which currently presides over the Council of the European Union, proposed reducing the potential ceiling for the price of Russian gas from 275 euros per megawatt-hour to 188 euros per megawatt-hour. While Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed that Moscow will not export anything abroad if it contradicts its national interests.
