Prices: truce in the controls of truckers and picketers due to the impact of Carrió's complaint

2023-01-16T23:27:53.929Z

Moyano's union did not go to a supermarket chain to which it had announced its presence and notified some companies that it would not go. The picketers got into the control operation for the weekend. Business rejection grows.

The presence of the Truckers union in supermarkets

loosened this Monday

, and it did not materialize in some mass consumption companies where there was anxiety about it.

However, both the chains and their suppliers

remain on alert against the appearance of these new "controls".

The reaction of the political arc seems to

have had an effect on the intimidation plan

, the result of collaboration between the union and the Ministry of Economy.

"The criminal complaint of (Elisa) Carrió to officials hit"

, interpreted an executive of the sector.

The Truckers union, which already visited the distribution centers of

Coto, Carrefour and Cencosud

last week, had announced that it would go to Changomas (formerly Walmart) yesterday.

But that didn't happen.

Truckers also informed -informally- two large mass consumption companies that

it would not go to their plants.

These are companies that have a lot of ties to that union.

"These days, no, maybe later," heard an executive from a multinational when he spoke with his usual interlocutor in the union.

According to sources who were present at the Truckers' visits to the supermarket distribution centers,

there was more “show” than data collection.

“They didn't score anything.

They have the data on the number of trucks entering and leaving the distribution centers.

The walk was an exhibition for the networks and politics”,

they say in a chain in which Oscar Borda, the head of the Truck Drivers Logistics branch, was present.

“At the end of the year, there was a meeting at the Secretary of Commerce, in which businessmen and Pablo Moyano (in charge of the Truckers union) sat down.

This presence generated noise, but it was seen as legitimizing his intervention, ”says a manufacturer who asked not to be named.

“So far it's just 'show'.

They are looking to win the agenda and establish that inflation drops to 3% per month,

and keep pushing so that it tends to fall, ”he conjectured.

That businessman also warned: “the Truckers union is precisely in charge of supplying.

In other words, you have a problem in that sense, and the guild that is in charge is controlling you, ”he observes.

“The lack of inputs from our suppliers in general and the lack of (import) approvals that occurred in October before the signing of the program delayed all production,” he added.

The main flaw in the “Fair Prices” program is that the products

are not on the shelves or they run out early.

There, supermarkets and suppliers are blamed for the low.

The Barrios de Pie piqueteros were also summoned.

"We are going to be between 500 and 1,000 finishing surveying on the entire coast, in General Pueyrredón, Mar del Plata, Miramar, Necochea," explains Daniel Menendez, national coordinator of Barrios de Pie and undersecretary of Integration and Training Policies at the ministry. of Social Development.

“We are going to set up

checkpoints where people

gather, in hypermarkets, and bring material to publicize the program, so that people can download the application and inform how to use it to report and verify prices,” he explained.

Supermarkets are the first to go to tell the Secretary of Commerce -Matías Tombolini- about the shortages.

“The secretary has a monitor of 200 sensitive products, which he follows regularly.

If a higher raise arrives,

he finds out almost immediately ”

, describe the providers.

In the chains they say that suppliers choose the most "informal" channels (such as the Chinese) to dump their merchandise.

It is because there they can

charge more expensive their products.

"For this reason, deliveries to our channel are at 50%.

That the Secretary of Commerce, Truckers and whoever wants to control it, the suppliers do not supply us to the extent that we need it so that there are products all the time ”, they shoot from the gondolas.

Some companies subscribed to the "Fair Prices" to guarantee

access to dollars at the official exchange rate for imports

.

In many cases, that would not be happening.

They deliver them in installments, in quantities less than necessary

, and at the same time they ask us to comply with the supply.

It is complicated”, details a supplier.

“We come with normal supply and in line with the historical average.

Perhaps the Government is trying to increase the volumes”, points out another private source consulted.

“The program captured a greater demand, a greater volume than the one committed by the difference in prices.

It is not a shortage.

It is strictly complied with

”, a supplier apologized.

Wholesalers described a “normal” supply scenario.

“Someone wanted to go up last week above 4% (the authorized monthly recomposition margin), and they pushed it back.

It was a wine brand.

It's weird about truckers ”, they explain in that corner that supplies warehouses and self-services.
