The procurement office of the Bundeswehr is negotiating with Krauss-Maffei Wegmann about a replacement for the Panzerhaubitze 2000, of which the Bundeswehr has given 14 systems to Kyiv.
According to SPIEGEL information, a contract should be signed in the first quarter.
In the second quarter, it is to be presented to the Budget Committee of the Bundestag.
This is based on a confidential information from the householders, which is available to SPIEGEL.
The 14 Leopard tanks that Chancellor Olaf Scholz wants to deliver from Bundeswehr stocks by the end of March are also to be replaced.
The Ministry of Defense signaled to members of the Bundestag that the subsequent procurement of the Leopard 2 A6 would be "initiated immediately".
The troops said that newer models of the Type 2 A7 would be ordered as a replacement for the tanks that had been surrendered.
