Facilitate the continuity of breastfeeding of babies, whose mothers have opted for this option, when it is not possible to give the breast exclusively.

This is the objective with which in 2018 three partners launched Happymami, whose customizable bottles to adapt to the characteristics of the mothers' breasts reached the market in January 2021. "Happymami was born from one of the partners, who is a midwife and an expert in breastfeeding, who detected the need to create a bottle that would not later interfere with the breastfeeding of babies”, says Alberto Fernández, co-founder and CEO, by phone.

Generic teats that do not resemble the mother's anatomy, he says, can cause not only rejection,

For this, the brand offers different combinations taking into account, for example, the shape and size of the breasts, the nipple and the flow of milk.

"The data tells us that the rate of mothers who breastfeed is increasingly decreasing," says this 29-year-old from Jaén.

"But we have to go a little further and understand reality, because there are countless reasons that prevent us from continuing with it or for those who need to combine it with a bottle, whether it's going back to work, cracks or thousands of factors."

The three years between the conception of the idea and the start of commercialization, he says, were difficult.

"It was a little more work at home, we can say, to analyze the clients, the market, to create that new product..., and they were three years that were a little more complex."

None of those involved had business training as such,

Although the founders are the visible face of the brand, there are many midwives, pediatricians and mothers behind them: “Who are the ones who truly know the needs, how to give them real solutions and who are the ones leading this Happymami movement.

And our part as engineers and business is to bring that idea to reality.”

The company's main sales channel —with a workforce of eight people, a turnover of around 250,000 euros and at a financial breakeven point— is online, through its website.

“And then the B2B channel is also opening up, through pharmacies and childcare stores”, he comments.

Their baby bottles are sold throughout Spain and they are already working on the internationalization of the brand.

The future of Happymami happens, says the CEO, by betting on growth and an innovative mentality.

"And not only think about getting products to sell, but about solutions to help mothers," he says.
