Luxury fashion house Gucci has signed Sabato De Sarno as its new creative director.
The designer, who grew up in Naples, will be responsible for all collections of the luxury brand.
This was announced by the French fashion group Kering, to which Gucci belongs.
So far in his career, De Sarno has worked at Prada, Dolce & Gabbana and most recently at Valentino since 2009, where he has assumed increasingly responsible positions over the years.
The 39-year-old Italian succeeds his compatriot Alessandro Michele as creative director, who resigned in December.
When exactly De Sarno starts the job at Gucci, it was not clear at first.
"As soon as possible when he has completed all obligations in the current role," it said.
De Sarno is scheduled to present his first collection at Milan Women's Fashion Week in September 2023.
