How taxis resisted VTCs

2023-01-31T19:17:11.170Z

DECRYPTION - Spurred on by platforms such as Uber, they have moved upmarket. But the war between the two enemies is not over.

The VTC more expensive than the taxi.

From this Tuesday, the slightest race will bring 7.65 euros to VTC drivers.

If we add the commission of the platform (Uber, Bolt, FreeNow…), the passenger will pay at least 9 euros against 7.30 euros for the shortest taxi journey.

An evolution which results from an agreement concluded between the operators of VTC and the representatives of the drivers.

It was expected that the taxi reservation centers would claim this advantage against their worst enemies.

In fact, they are keeping a low profile.

“We are not convinced that this will move the lines”,

underlines Yann Ricordel, deputy general manager of G7, which has 9000 taxis in the Paris region.

A serenity that owes a lot to the rebalancing of the balance of power between taxis and VTC.
