The International Monetary Fund expected the Chinese economy to grow by 5.2 percent this year, up 0.8 percentage points from its forecast last October.
Xinhua news agency quoted the Fund as saying yesterday in the newly released update of the World Economic Outlook report: “Growth in China is expected to rebound with full reopening in 2023.”
The global lender expected global growth to decline from 3.4 percent in 2022 to 2.9 percent in 2023, before rising to 3.1 percent in 2024, noting that the historical average growth rate between 2000 and 2019 was 3.8 percent.
