Savers can rub their hands.
Their savings will be better remunerated.
Indeed, this Wednesday, the passbook A rate will drop from 2% to 3% (knowing that it was only 1% in February 2022).
A boon for households, which until now had few options to grow their money without taking risk.
This revaluation owes a lot to inflation (6% in January over one year), which counts in the calculation of the livret A. The returns corrected for the rise in prices are certainly negative, but few fully guaranteed investments are doing better today .
Savers are not mistaken.
They largely deflected their savings on this medium last year (28 billion euros), due to successive rate hikes.
This is more than in 2020, at the start of the pandemic.
And they still have room to do so.
The average amount held in this savings account is around 5,000 euros.
Only one out of 10 booklet A is topped up (22,950 euros).
