The advent of the electric automobile may give Detroit the historic opportunity to redistribute the cards of competitiveness to its advantage.
This is one of the reasons why Joe Biden is happy to provide massive direct and indirect public aid to consolidate the young “made in the USA” industry.
The pleas of Europeans for federal government support for the electric automobile industry to also benefit companies on the Old Continent certainly do not leave the White House indifferent.
But they hardly seem sufficient to push Joe Biden, and a Congress little moved by European fears of deindustrialization, to reconsider the essentials of their legislative system.
Between the infrastructure financing law and the one boosting tax credits and aid for investments in low-carbon energy and electric vehicles, more than 400 billion dollars over ten years are supposed to accelerate electrification…
