From poverty to child labor and deforestation
These days, 61% of the company's cocoa production is under social responsibility criteria, and the rest is supplemented from sustainable sources other than Mars.
By 2025, the company has stated that it will be able to produce its own cocoa from 100% responsible sources, so that it will not have to supplement it from other sources for the production process.
The Mars company has set as a goal that by 2025, 100% of its cocoa will be produced according to the Responsible Cocoa sustainability program.
Also, through its suppliers, Mars Wrigley planted more than 1.9 million new non-cocoa trees in 2021, helping to increase shade, biodiversity and carbon sequestration.
Alongside all this, the company recently launched two groundbreaking programs aimed at supporting 14,000 farmers in the Ivory Coast and Indonesia on their way to a sustainable income by 2030.

Naama Moshkowitz, Director of Corporate Communications at Mars Israel and the Baltic States:
"Quality cocoa is the basis for large industries of chocolate, food, cosmetics and more. As a leading global company in its field, it is our moral duty to reduce environmental damage in the production of cocoa and to help farmers who face a series of challenges, from poverty to Child labor and deforestation".
"The effects of climate change and global crises are exacerbating the existing vulnerabilities in the cocoa farming communities, which is why we aim to accelerate the change in the cocoa supply chain, so that it benefits both people and the planet," Moskovitz added.
