In view of the earthquakes that were heard overnight in Israel, many Israelis are asking themselves what should be done in cases of property damage and how to receive compensation from the insurance company.
At the same time, it turns out that most Israelis purchase basic home insurance without an extension for earthquakes.
Therefore, first of all, in the event of earthquakes, the insured must check whether he has valid home insurance and whether it is included in the extended earthquake policy. If he does not understand the terms of the policy, he must contact a qualified person who will go over the terms of coverage with him and explain all the terms of the policy to him.
In general, it is important to know that the standard policy covers earthquakes, fire, lightning, thunder, smoke, explosions or flare-ups, wind with a speed exceeding 30 knots, including rain falling at the time, snow or hail, with the exception of rainwater leaking through the walls or ceiling or being absorbed by them.

So where is the problem?
The problem is that the terms of the policy do not always fully insure all cases.
For example, those who want to take out an earthquake policy should first check that there is full coverage for an earthquake.
After that, you must make sure that the insurance amount covers the actual risk - for example, at least every square meter in the apartment is multiplied by 6,500, that is: the insurance amount for 100 square meters should be at least 650,000 thousand shekels. As a
rule, the apartment insurance as part of the mortgage does not automatically cover Earthquake damage. To the extent that an insured holds such a policy, he must check whether it also covers natural damage and an earthquake. The coverage is not automatic and depends on where the policy was purchased, there are mortgage policies that do not cover earthquakes and natural damage.
