INTERVIEW – The managing director of BNP Paribas is revising the bank's objectives upwards, after a record year 2022.


BNP Paribas is not deviating from its course.

After a historic year 2021, the first bank in the euro zone generated 10.19 billion euros (+ 7.5%) in profits in 2022. A record.

Revenues from all areas of activity (retail banking, investment, leasing, etc.) are up.

Only consumer credit is going through a more difficult phase: according to the unions, 921 positions will be eliminated in France, in voluntary departures or mobility.

Our results will be higher in 2023 than in 2022 and we will continue to support the economy and support our customers by providing them with our expertise and our solidity.

Our strategic plan is bearing fruit and we are benefiting from two new growth levers.

We are going to reinvest over time the capital freed up by the sale of our American subsidiary Bank of the West, ie around 11 billion euros.
